  • Embracing the "Solution People Energy"

Dear SPE Vietnam Members & Volunteers

We are excited to announce a significant update to our section's identity. In alignment with SPE International's new branding, SPE Vietnam is proud to adopt the tagline: "Solution People Energy." This change is more than just a new set of words; it represents a powerful reaffirmation of our core mission and values, and a bold step forward in our collective journey.

This new tagline will be featured prominently alongside the SPE logo, serving as a constant reminder of core element of SPE’s mission:

    • Solutions — SPE is committed to fostering technical knowledge exchange and innovation that addresses the dynamic challenges of the energy sector.
    • People — At the core of SPE’s mission are its members who strive to drive the industry forward. Their expertise, dedication, and resilience are essential for achieving a sustainable energy future.
    • Energy — Since AIME launched a petroleum division in 1913 and SPE was separately established in 1985, SPE has remained focused on oil and gas and related technologies. Today, we see new opportunities to apply our expertise to other subsurface energy resources, such as geothermal, while continuing to empower and advance the industry to meet the world’s energy needs safely and sustainably.

By embracing "Solution People Energy," we are not only aligning ourselves with SPE International's global vision but also reinforcing our unique identity as a section that is forward-thinking, people-centric, and dedicated to excellence. This tagline will be a guiding principle for all our future activities, from technical sessions and workshops to networking events and community outreach programs.

  • SPE Vietnam Section – Your Upstream Technical Community

Dear Sirs, Madams, Members, Volunteers and Friends,

Thank you for your support to the SPE Vietnam Section community through 2024. The strong support from all stakeholders to the Vietnam Section and amongst the volunteers is highly appreciated.

The Section has been very active in my first year holding the Chairman role of the Vietnam Section Committee. As the year end approaches, I wanted to reach out to you all; express my thanks and mention the Section activities.

Volunteering spirit is strong and the Section Committee 2024 to 2026 (including colleagues from Cuu Long JOC, Idemitsu, SLB, Baker Hughes, Harbour Energy, PVEP and others) has been implementing an attractive program. In May we established SPE Vietnam Company Limited; enabling us to operate efficiently and effectively. We hosted the SPE regional finals of Petrobowl in July and SPE International’s President visited Hanoi in November. SPE International held a workshop in October and the Section held its own Technical Workshop and associated annual Golf & Tennis Tournament. The Section also supports the five Student Chapters (at HCMUS, HCMUT, HUMG, PVU and DUT) and local charities.

We hope to strengthen and expand the professional networks and learning by bringing people together face to face as well as share useful and informative technical and operational information broadly. We would like to hear your ideas and get involved with your professional community.

For more on specific activities, please visit our Site or scan our posts on LinkedIn, and Facebook.

We would encourage all of you who are not registered members with SPE International to consider doing so. Our membership chair, Hugh Sykes (hugh.sykes@perygrene.vn) as well as our Section Assistant, Vưu Nguyễn Ý Lan (assistant.spevietnam@gmail.com) would love to hear from you if you do or have any questions.

The Section extends season’s greetings for Christmas and the New Year to you, your colleagues and your loved ones. We look forward to meeting many of you again soon, before we reach the end of the year of the Dragon and welcome in the year of the Snake.

    Yours faithfully,

    Phạm Nam Hiếu

    Chairman (2024-2026)
