  • Resignation Notification

    Dear SPE Vietnam Fellows,

Because of the completion of my job assignment in Vietnam, I’m resigning from SPE Vietnam Section Chairman’s position. I’m pleased to announce a new Section Chairman who has been elected by the Section Committee yesterday – Dr. Do Van Khanh (Chairman of PV Drilling Board). My big congratulations to Dr. Khanh and I wish him every success in this role. I’m sure Dr. Khanh will efficiently lead SPE Vietnam and develop it towards new targets and achievements.

By this chance, I would like to provide my big thanks and appreciation to all of you for your support during my time with SPE Vietnam Committee (1+ year in a Technical Program Co-Chair role and nearly 2 years as a Section’s Chairman). It was a great (though very challenging!) opportunity for me, and I believe together we did many good things implementing global SPE missions in Vietnam. This joint work has been recognized by SPE International – in 2015 and 2016 the Vietnam Section has been awarded Gold Standard Certificates and in 2017 has received the President’s Award for Section Excellence – the top level SPE award. I’m very proud that we have achieved such significant results together.

I wish all of you and your families all the best in the future, and wish SPE Vietnam higher targets and new achievements implementing its important missions in Vietnam.

    Best regards,
    Timur Manapov
  • 2017 President’s Award for Section Excellence

    Dear SPE Vietnam members,

I’m happy and proud to announce that our Section has received the 2017 SPE President’s Award for Section Excellence (please see the letter of award attached). This award is demonstrating that programs and activities of SPE in Vietnam have been recognized as exceptional amongst all Sections around the world.

As you know, the mission of Society of Petroleum Engineers is to collect, disseminate and exchange technical knowledge in oil & gas industry and provide opportunities for professionals to enhance their competences. In Vietnam, we are doing a number of activities to successfully deliver this mission through our monthly technical talks, workshops and presentations for students and young professionals, soft skill development opportunities, student technical competitions, scholarship support for talented students, live webinars and other programs. Besides, we are trying to consolidate the industry in current challenging times and provide professionals a range of socializing and networking opportunities as annual Golf & Tennis tournament, joint workshops with PVN and PVEP, Vung Tau beach cleaning events etc. With valued support from Vietnam oil & gas industry, we are doing a number of charity projects – renovating school libraries in rural provinces, donating bicycles to poor and unprivileged pupils, supporting heart surgeries to small children, organizing blood donation amongst SPE community and students etc. We believe that all mentioned programs are recognized and appreciated by Vietnam oil & gas community, and we plan to work even more to achieve our high targets.

This great achievement is result of hard work of Vietnam Committee members who are demonstrating their sincere volunteering spirit to deliver SPE mission in Vietnam, and I’m taking this opportunity to thank all of them for this. I would also like to thank all SPE members in Vietnam for keep supporting us through your active membership and participation in our activities. Remember – together we can do a lot of good things!

    Best regards,
    Timur Manapov
    SPE Vietnam Section Chairman
